Coach's Comments May, 2007

Dear BAC parents and swimmers,

I am proud to have the opportunity to coach your children. It has been my honor to develop these young athletes for the past ten years. Now, as head coach, I hope to bring in some enthusiasm, challenges, team spirit, and a readiness to believe in themselves. I need your help to do this.

To be a great athlete, or to even succeed in life, you have to believe you can make changes for the better. You cannot be satisfied with what you have accomplished yesterday you must always look forward with what you can accomplish today. With goals in mind everyday, you can strive to improve.

All of this starts with you, the parents and the swimmers. I provide the vehicle it is up to you to get on board. You must take responsibility for improving in practice, by being on time, having equipment with you, taking bathroom breaks at appropriate times, supporting team members by pushing each other in practice and above all having a positive attitude. This will make the sport fun.

Team spirit is something that helps keep everyone excited about what you are accomplishing in and out of the water.

  • Team effort meets are for everyone
  • Parents sit together in team colors to cheer the whole team on
  • Swimmers stay to cheer on other swimmers in relays
  • Relays are an honor to swim on
  • Team sits together at meets
  • Social events should be organized among age groups excluding no one (this does not necessarily mean organized by the social chair person) Have the group to your house for pizza and a movie.
  • No one comes to practice late or leaves early (this sends a message that practice is not important)
  • Lead the lane at least once a week
  • Stay after practice to work on details
  • Try not to miss a repeat of a set
  • Leave the area better than when you got there
  • Everyone is important to make a team
  • Invite a friend to try us out the first week of the month

I will need the whole team and your families help to keep our Gold Medal team what it is today and in the future. There is no "I" in Team we work together to keep BAC strong and believing in what we can accomplish everyday. We are one of 16 top teams in the nation to be recognized as Gold Medal. Lets keep up the good work.
